Satay Celup McQuek's Sate Celup Malacca

after a long day @ malacca jalan jalan ...  i decided to
drop by dinner @ McQuek's Sate Celup ...
off on tuesday .... just fyi.....
3 of us ... this is just the beginning ... supprisingly ...
the price per stick is afforable .. though the food is little per stick
RM0.55/stick ... watch out .. some comes with 2 stick ...
anyway ... cheaper then those lok lok @ JB ...
we sit outside ... duh ... the weather is already very forgivingly
warm and humid ... i wonder those sitting inside will  sweat
like madd .....
very different then @ johor ... u stick ur food at the satay sauce...
fyi ... the satay sauce is recycle .. this whole pot ... u can't finish..
if you do ... i can gurantee that u'll be honoured with
malaysian book of record title ... cos i guesstimate about 2 gallons
of satay souce ....
satay souce = peanut + curry + chili paste sauce ..
they sell fresh sauce at RM16.00 per pail ...those super hygine
can opt for this options ..unfinished sauce you
can take back ....fair rite ...
here's the action .. when it boils ... it really boils !
the rules is .... play with medium fire .. and make sure
u stirr the sauce because the peanuts will get into lumps ...
and charred at the bottom of this container ... the sauce will be
bad then with the charred smell ...
here's the damage .... i can say ... not the best i've eaten ..
but the price sure very very friendly ....
along Jalan Parameswara
2°11'20.87"N 102°15'34.56"E
food rate = 7/10
not much variesties of food though ...

Ikan Bakar Newton Food Court Malacca

actually i came here for the famous poh piah ... but knn
they are close today (Sat) so i hunt around ... not to miss
anything from here ... actually i just had sate celup for dinner
and i consider this as my supper ... inteval between my dinner is
about 10mins away ... i think beside a DR on my nick..
i can be Makansutra
ok no coordinates ... just along portuguese settlement
ujung pasir ...
spotted some fresh catch today .... so i called a slice of 200g
of red snapper ... that cost me RM16 ... damn .. not cheap leh...
here ... maids and maidens in a row ....
yumm yumm .. very nyonya style ... suprise suprise indeed ...
it's actually cooked with nyonya like curry .... i though ikan
bakar is cooked with chilli paste ... hmmm now i got something
to blog about ...
not only nice deco ... the fish is sure fresh and the curry is
marvelous ... though i'm actually full ...of sate celup .... i do agree

Melaka - Chicken Rice Ball story ...

In search for Malaca best Hainanese Chicken Rice @ jonker street ..
as usual .. there are many that claim they are the Original and Best
and many are fakes (someone that i believe do not taste his own
cooking before serving to customer ... )

He're a story to tell ....

the Q at Chung Wah Hainanse Chicken Rice Ball ...
notice the weather never stop these loyals patrions ...
they are so far the best here .... not the best in Malacca
or Malaysia ok ... FYI

here's my blog on them on my last trip
=>Chung Wah Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball

i drive 3 hours in a heavy rain ....for hainanese ball ball rice ...
be welcome by more crowd and long Q ... basket ... so i left
for my next on my list ......

wah lau ... He Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball also very very long Q ...
basket ..... rainy days sure makes alot of people hungry ....
dammit ... so i walk on along Jonker Street ....

i stumble upon this shop ... i never tried them .. nor know them..
what the hell ... here no Q ... just need to find a place to seat ..

wah !!! even the famous HK Food tasting GURU is here before..
should be F#$%^ good laa ... ha ha ha

even the King was here ..... oooo i can't wait for my
ball ball rice ......

read this .... no joke ok ...

looks ..............

might be deceiving ....

this ball ball rice taste like eating a ball of starch !!!
if u break it .. hardly u can spot a complete grain of rice ......
gummy starchy taste ... WTF ! melamine Rice ????
i think they use cheap broken rice and mix with glutanoius rice
so that easier to roll to a ball ...
when i cut across the rice ball i can see the slime
stickiness ... like a rotten Rice Dumpling ....
i give 0.4/10 why .. because i'm so hungry to reject even shit ..

if u think the ball ball rice is a mixture of melamine .. this is even
better ...
this char siew taste like ur eating or actually chewwing a
tree root marinated with char siew source ....
i swear to my own god that i never eaten this godforsaken
food ever in my life .... WTF !!!!!
i give them 0.5/10 ... to waste food is a sin ... anyway i cannot
get refund ...

hainanese chicken my ass !!!!
the worse Hainanese Chicken ever tasted in my F$%^ life ...
i bet this shop has won the Malacca Worse Food Stall ...
the chicken meat .... very corse ... very very over cooked ..
dry inside ...and

tasteless ... some chicken smell but no taste like chicken..
as if it has been abducted by aliens and all the chicken's juice
has been drawned out to make essence of Chicken and just
leave this piece-o-cascass chuck of meat ....

WTF ???? you leave us with corse meat without the chicken
flavour and it;s not tender either ....
0.6/10 ....

the only edible stuff here is the fish ball .. i'm no biased b$%^d
if it's a good food i give high rating ... if not ... you'll be cursed
evertime i remembered on how much i pay for your SHIT ...

so i give this a 7/10 because it really has fishy taste in it ..
and the bite is quite Q ... that's a mandarin food term ... no english
subtitle here ..

i pay so i can have the say ... don't you think so ???
anyway i'm a consumer, so i have every single rights
to complain and to share with my friends or anybody
that came across my blog ...

anyway i'm in no intention to bring this shop down ..
just that it has disgrace itself to sell us nonsense !!!

F#$% AVOID THIS SHOP ... unless you don't mind
regretting .... then by all means ... go and eat his shit ...

do drop comments if anyone do share your experiece
with this shop .. anyway i have 3 freinds that agree with me
so i'm sure i woke up from the right side of the bed ....

Belachan, Cencalok & Lemang - Alor Gajah, Melaka

these are common sight along the inner road from Muar to
Malacca or from Negeri Sembilan to Malacca ....

Lemang is, glutinous rice, with coconut milk with a bit of salt,
cooked in banana leaf lined bamboo over a wooden fire,
the aroma of after-burn, simply delicious ....

u basically eat it with rendang (beef or mutton cooked with
herbs and spices)

usually the prime time are around Hari Raya or Hari Raya Haji,
where muslim friends celebrated the festival, anyway here
along the road in Alor Gajah ... it's an everday business...

i bought a stick at RM8.00 not cheap nowadays ... use to get it
at RM2 ... 12 years ago @ school days ...

and a packet of rendang at RM8, now this is bloody expensive...
but do i have a choice ???? hahahaha no choice laa ...
was salivating ...... need to filled the tummy maa..
so i was carrot cutted...

belacan .... is baby shrimp paste, dried and make into a block,
those dingling and dangling here are round in shapes, that's
basically the de-facto standard lah ... i think in malay, the baby
shrimp is called udang geragau or something like that laa..

more here ....

basically they are unlikely to be cooked or pastured ..
they have a very or extremely repulsive smell for the non-locals...
ang moh will pengsan if you bring them here for shopping ...

the trick is ... u need to baked it over a charcoal stove to get
the best aroma before u cooked it .... hmm made famous with
kang kong .. in english ... water glorybind, water spinach, water
convolvulus and swamp cabbage (from Yahoo answer)

if u happend to dine at any malay restaurant ... you can taste it
by the menu name ... Kang Kong Belacan ... don't worry ... the smell
won't kill you now, since it's cooked and also with other sauce
in it ...

typically you can find these under the kitchens of nyoya, malay,
chinese, indonesia and thai ...

i bought 2 pcs ... each RM3.00, but i think i was carrot chopped..
anyway ... it tasted damn good when i tried it later back in JB,
just that i might have put too much of it hahahahahhaha ...
i think my neighbour swears by it hahahahahha

Cencalok ...another version of baby shrimp paste ... this is real paste like...
watery and pinkish in color ... that's the color of the fermentated salted water

these ... the smell are much different .. not as strong as belachan
these are popular widely used as a sauce for grilled stingray over banana leaves ....

the trick is ... pour like 3 spoonfull of Cencalok, waste the pinky juice,
because it's abit too salty, replace it with 1 or 2 lime or lemon juice
or typical malaysian lime (limau kasturi), finely slice 1/2 shallots,
and some cili padi .... mixed it with a lil bit of sugar ...
walaa ... u got urself a bloody malaysian sauce for your fried fish
or anything laa ...

or with ulam ... aaa just remember this ... google is ur friend ....
i'm abit sleepy now laa ...

wah lau .... this place really smell ...

these are pretty uncommon too ... Petai or stink beans...
grows in the wild ... u need to peel it and most likely
u'll find petai's worms ... it's edible ...so it's fine by me ..
you prolly need to consume it within a week because
they rott easily ..

cook it with dried shrimp with chilli paste ... and eat it with
bubur (porridge) i bet you can take 5 bowl of poriddge anytime

high in amino acid .... the after-smell of ur mouth will kill any
flies of mosquitoes if they pass ur mouth.. so please ... stand back ..
ur urine also will smell like dead roddens ... hahahahahha
for the whole day ... good one ....

same facts about the benefits of Petai ...

St John's Fort - Malacca (24-10-08)

"St. John's Fort lies atop St. John's Hill, 3 km from Malacca town. The fort was constructed by the Dutch, during the third quarter of the 18th century but was once a private Portuguese chapel dedicated to St. John. It is interesting to note that the gun embrasures of the fort face inland and not towards the sea. This was to counter attacks the enemy from the hinterland and not from the sea"

extracted from :-
===> http://www.tourism.gov.my/en/destinations/item.asp?item=stjohns

they bloody mean business !!!

fort's enteree' ...

medieval times of flooring tiles ....

stairs made of bricks ... the thickness is 1/2 the size from
our common bricks, i wonder it's imported from Netherlands

here's the star attraction ...

beautifully re-constructed cannon's transporter
cannon's fuse sealed ... else someone below might get hurt ...

I'll try to get more info on these logo ... I've been to Malacca's
museum, but i cannot recall who's who ...

sea view .... there is only 1 cannon position at this angle, like the
description above says ... they are fighting @ land direction
Malacca town view ... seen here 3 cannon

see the slopes ... i believe this is not mean for the wheel chaired
handicapped army personnel ... but for the cannons ....
going down hill ...

FYI, this place is a now served multiple functions
such as :-

1. morning/evening exercise park
2. jogging place for the young and old
3. for some salesman to *eat snake* @ loiter
4. for students to skip classes *ponteng sekolah*
5. for young couple to make-out
