Johor Water source

i was OFFICIALLY INVITED by some classified

Highly regards Officer to have a 1/2 day trip up the mountain

@ Public Utilities Board,

Gunung Pulai Waterworks ....to have an educational tour on

Johor, state of Malaysia, drinking water source ...

in layman terms ... the source of water coming out from

your water tap lah ...

this waterworks are under 100years terms between the Malaysian

Goverment and Singapore Goverment, these contras says

within 100 years... the PUB of Singapore

are to buy the unprocess water from the DAM and

processes the water and sell it back to Malaysia...

By far this facility are rated top 10 in the world for it's mediaval practice

and updated technology and Quality Control that many of the workers's

fore fathers has worked here ... it's about pride of giving the best water

to the Nation and i'm proud to meet the fellow people that

we Malaysian are indebted to .. they are our UNSUNG HERO...

anyway ... every good news has a bad news lah ... ...

contracts ends 2012 ... so Malaysia Boleh ... expect lousy water

after that ...

Our late Sultan of Johor took the initiative to start this 5 years

Massively HUGE project to built 2 Dam ..

yes TWO Dam to supply Drinking water to Johor

and Singapore ...

from the interview ... these 2 Dam will never ever dry ... unless

it's the end of the world .... so Johorian .. count your blessing

that's Gunung Pulai ... so u can imagine ..

there's a Lake in the Sky... we're about 500meter

above sea level .... yes ... 500 meter ...

 so fine and beautifully constructed ..

but due to the nature of business ...

i cannot show you because the terrorist might sabotage it

and poison it and the whole Johor population might get killed ...

so nuff said .. what i saw is DAMN BEAUTIFUL

for me to remember and for u to figure out ...

Ok abit about the process ... i'll try to go as layman as posibble

because actually the concept and idea of water puryfying is tat

simple ... just that you need to make it real HUGE it MUST

supply 1 thousand gallon of purified drinking water in 1 second

flow rate ....

else there would be people dying of de-hydration ... no joke ..

drinking water is more important then electricity ....

if either one u must choose ... yes.. don't be an idiot ...please..

ok here's the story ..... morning glory ...

1. Water from the Dam flows downhill through a metal like netting

so filter out fish, crocodile, other huge insoluble objects ..

please note there is not even 1 single water pump used in this

facility because of the design and the location 500meter above

sea level .. and the water pressure of 1,220million gallons of

water is sufficient to flow to your house, all across

johor bahru .... unless u stays in high

rise building lah ...

2. water then are mix with Lime and Alum for Floculation...

so that all the dirt and grime will float and settle become mud

in the next tank ... Lime added to maintain the PH level to 7

3. Florite is added so to prevent tooth decay ... all the chemical

added to purify the water are STRICTLY LAB CONTROL

no more and no less !

4. There are several tanks as deep as 24feet and size of

12x6feet wide ... these are to capture till the last bit of dirt

5. Then the water goes through lava rock and sand filteration ..

6. Clorine is added to desinfect germs and bacteria ...

7. Of cos there are many more smaller process but this is

what i can recall and i were in the lab, there is a few tub

of current water flowing water from 2 main sources and also

before and after treatment on a clear transparent tub ..

and the end process is the clear drinking water...

i was offered a 1st hand drinking water...

to my suprise .. there is no clorine smell at all !!!

what the hell ??? because most of the time when i

drink from the tap .. there is this funny akward smell

i though all along the water source is dirty ...

but NO .. HELL NO !!!! it's crystal clear !!!!!

i tasted the water from the source ..

it has no smell .. and it taste just like mineral water ...

my oh my ...i was wrong since i was born

hahahahhaahah

so i asked the person in charge .. is this drinkable ?

yes ... he answered ... it;s drinkable water lah !!!!

funny eh ??? when the water reaches our home .. it tastes

different..... maybe because of the piping used we're

aged .... who knows rust or sludge or whatever

has since built-up since then ...

anway ... Johor Water are rated one of the

drinkable water amongst all states ...

so those that lives in Johor ... ur Blessed and

let not waste it ...

abit of regret ... i should have bring my tupperware...

hahahaha anyway ... there is a water source FREE

below .. that's the 1st TAP WATER from the

water treatment plan .. before it reaches downhill

we guessed it's from Europe ... because there

are many wild trees are planted by the British

when they we're working on the Dam...

We spotted Almond tree .. i wanted to jump out from

the vehicle .. but this place give me the scary eary of

the movies ... hills have eyes ... if u know what i mean ....

you might be sad because, i've tasted the water from the source...

but don't fret ... picture above are Johor 1st water tap and

it's easily available to the public ... just behind an Indian Temple

above Ulu Choh mountain...

why i say Johor 1st water tap ? because this water is from the main

water carrier to Johor Bahru....

this water tap is maintained and owned by the PUB too ...and best

it's FREE to the public to taste .... hahahaahhaha

no clorine smell ok .... where to find ??!!!!

the last interesting place worth mentioning ...

just check out the numerous sign along the road ...

die die u cannot miss, unless ur blind ...

just beside the main road of Ulu Choh to JB town ...

i bet they can sell 1000 bowl of cendol anytime of the day...

business was damn good ... nuff said ...

nothin beats a 2pm sun .... i had 3 bowl of the local's best

CENDOL, i give it a 9/10 ... because.... the suntan is

too thick .. i was worrying my colestrol level ....heheehhehe

yah .. the trip was interesting ...it

didn't come to my senses that i had not had my

breakfast ... so i whacked 2 packs of nasi lemak...

not bad 9/10, i would have given 10/10

but since i was so hungry .. i might be bias then

hahahhahhaha
